The technology

The Tamares Telecom system has been designed with superior submarine optical cable and unparalleled optical amplification technology. It is built with advanced and carefully selected components, making it future proof with new terminal equipment technologies, higher channel rates and new types of services:
 
  • Ultra-high bandwidth with potentially up to 42 Tbps, with a transmission capacity of 70 x 100 Gbps on each of its six fiber pairs 
  • A submarine optical cable with a life span of 25 years
  • An integrated system combining three technologies – EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers)‎, RAMAN and ROPA (Remote Optically Pumped Amplifier)
  • A plurality of client interfaces ranging up to 100 Gbps depending on customers’ needs for capacity and granularity 
  • Support for a variety of standard interfaces like EoS and wavelengths
  • A system compliant with the standards of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU):
